Varanasi is a place of extremes. Life is celebrated in death as much as it is at weddings and births elsewhere on this earth. The contrast between the serene boat excursion at dawn with two talented musicians from the local sitar shop and the burning ghats could not be more extreme.

Reflections of the morning sun in the instruments and clothing of the musicians produced a riot of copper and gold.
